Hi all,
it has been one and half year..out of blogging.
I really missed this stuff man..
feels so good to write something...u know.
there has been lot of UPS & downs in these 15 months.life has been like SENSEX.
pure volatility...nothing else.
I still remember those days....
7th Jan ....sensex touches 21000. we all are placed with 6+ package deal and one of the best profiles ..equity research.
4th july.sensex finds some correction to 19000...my dream came true....joined Adventity.
Ppl said its full-form is (or was?) Adventurous Entity...
and thanks to Lehman Bros. it fully lived up to its name.
Stared as a smalltime 5-10 ppl company in 2003..became 2000+ in just five years!!
and it had all what comes with a big company....BIG OVERHEADS!!!
Now the company STRATEGY was to focus on one sector and few customers (bullshit)
With all top Investment banks as clients, we were growing at 200%...
16th september..sensex goes to 14000..then came the famous American NINJA (No Income No Job Assesses) and all investment banks became mercantile banks( that day I understood the difference!..Thanks Prof. Trivedi) With no income to support and BIG OVERHEADS..there is only one way to sustain...NEW STRATEGY..
LAST IN.....FIRST OUT
and then came the D - DAY!
31st September..sensex reached 10000..I was working on an assignment ( even 4th grade student could have done it) and then I get a call from Gala...dude just come down..there is a meeting. I was still wondering what the hell is going on? we never had any meeting in past 3 months!
and then came the GUY! With shrinking income levels, CEO of company came from US to Mumbai in BUSINESS CLASS flight to meet us personally (how fortunate we were...and how much they really care for us..Thank GOD!) and starts telling us how he tried to save our jobs ..and how helpless he was.
I WAS THINKING why the hell he didnt quit? cant he take a 50% paycut? cant we all take paycut and still be there?
I cant describe the feeling of getting fired from my first job.
Now looking back, I feel so lost...when I heard those words..My mind stopped working for few seconds..everything went blank..it was feeling like we were the most useless ppl with no talent..how can u fire me man? atleast give me a chance to prove my worth!
Thats when I understood..ITS A DOG EAT DOG WORLD OUT THERE!
The CEO fired us to save his JOB!
I was thanking my luck that I was not married and there was no loan on my head!
God help those who got fired from their jobs in those days. Those were really really sad and bad days...
The moment I came out of company ..i just called Yogesh and told him I was fired! It felt so embarrassing! and GOD knows what happened to my parent when I told them this news.
1st october..sensex goes down to 8000..i started a typical 'give me a job" kinnda mail campaign..I sent about 500 mails to friends, consultants,HR sites...
Wrote three types of resumes...had a daily chat with many consultants.."who were asking me to not to quit my job" and "stick around for some time".
It was really a scene at my apartment!
One guy (myself) was out of Job!
second guy (yoesh) was with a bankrupt lehman Bros
& the third (pavan) was going for a 3 month foreign assignment to Italy !!
and then we saw bottom of markets..sensex and life too...life @ 6000 of sensex.
and then life had seen all bad things...markets were bottomed out....
I got my call from Godrej...all thanks to Piyush bhatoria and Janki...I started a new chapter in my life...Life @ Godrej.... Life @ Project Disruptive Innovation!!!
will talk about this next time... c u soon...

Lets Be "SOFT"
Hi All,
when i was working on our "End term project" i applied some thought on the work we do.
It is compulsory for all students to submit an end term project as a part for semester 4 curriculum. Each student submits two copies of his research report: one with university and another with institute. Please look at following statistics which will help you to understand the scale at which students submit their reports:
Total number of university: 239
Total seats for higher education in universities across India::50,000
( only technical and management )
Number of copies summited :2
Average number of pages in each report:50
Total number of printed pages:50 lack pages.
Cost of printing pages: Rs 50 lacks
Cost of binding: 75 lacks
Total cost: Rs 125 lacks
In this era of Information technology revolution, I strongly feel that, it will be better if universities and institutes across India should start to accept digital format copies of such reports. ( Generally called as "Soft Copy").Total of 50 lacks of pages are printed each year to fulfill the requirement of curriculum. I believe that at least at post graduation level access to computers and internet is available across India. in fact most of reports are first made into digital format ( using word processors like MS Word) and then printed into "hard copies". So if we can take a small step to change the requirement of submitting research reports from "hard copy" to "digital format", this will save printing of at least 50 lacks of pages.
In todays world various environmental issues like Global Warming, uneven rainfall, change in weather pattern are attributed to reduction of "green cover" (i.e. number of trees) from the surface of earth. By reducing usage of pages, ink and electricity (to print pages), we are not only reducing the cost of preparing report, but also saving the green belt in India. Already India has only 25% of its land covered with forest, when research has proved that it should at least be 33%.
The digitalization of these research reports will help universities to create and maintain a database which will be easy to use. Students from various institutes and universities will be able to access these reports for further studies.
So ppl, stop printing those reports and request all profs and institutes to accept "SOFT copy" of ur project. Atleast u can claim to save few thousand trees ( as we all know all project work is "inspiration" of someone else).

The Awesome Two!!!!
year 2030: koi 5 star bar main.
Mera Beta: Baapu, hamare generation dekho, kya nahin hain hamare pass? broadband connection hain, hum mobile pe TV dekh sakte hain.
Main: (chupchap baitha hua)
Mera Beta: ab to India worldcup bhi jeet gaya hain, ye hamare young generation ka kamal hain.
// suppose the "young" Indian team have won the world cup. //
Main: (chupchap baitha hua) naya drink banate hue.
Mera Bate:( laughing sarcastically) hum log ab solar car chalate hian, India developed country ban chuka hain, sab kuch hamare generation ka kamal hain... Bolo aap ke paas kya hain? aapki generation ne hame kya diva??
bolo....bolo na...hahahahah......
Main: ( silently) Mere generation ke pass Tendulkar aur Gilchrist the... tumhare pass hain kya???
Main zor zor se has raha hu...aur mera beta mundi niche karke baitha hain....
so moral fo the story : The Awesome Two!!!
ya thats true....
the ultimate achievement of this generation is watching them playing.
they played fearlessly.
they played handsomely.
they were true gentlemen of the "gentleman's game" .
when they took the field , their opponents failed hopelessly.
one was a classic right handed batsmen, the longest serving performer of the game and the other was a left handed wicketkeeper who changed the definition of "wicketkeeper".
Tell me, can anyone play straight- drive better than sachin? Aai shappath...
Can anyone be as aggressive and explosive number 6 in tests as adam...no chance bhai...
they were not players.. they were artists... artsist of the canvas called cricket field.
they made their strokes... flashes.. to make the ultimate painting of cricket.
they added color by playing those fine shots, those towering sixes and boundaries.
they splashed field with chicky shots.
watching them playing cricket was the ultimate joy of watching cricket.
When they went out to play, people switch on their television sets, and switched off their lives.
nobody ever will be successful to take place of these two, not in my lifetime
so now with adam retiring, the best part of my life is half ended. Hope to see him in action soon in IPL.
All the best to him for his future en devours.
i can t write any more, will end....
"THANKS GILLY.....I WILL MISS U".

Good Old Vidharbhi Winter!!!!!
hi all,
just back from "mera gaon" akola. it was the best vacations i had in last few years. no kam-dham, just do whatever u want. read books, meet relatives and stay near parents. eat "maa ke hath ka khana", watch full cricket matches, eat panipuri, go to rathi's pedhewala and eat kachori then go to bus stand and have a goti soda. what can i ask for more?
at night go to station and u can have "malai-dudh". come back, watch TV and read books. no need to wash clothes and wash ur glass and thali after meals. ( a big plus).
it was nice to attend two "lagna" and we had "barse" for my "putni--- Aayushi". i cant believe its so difficult to handle infants! full time job of 24 x 7 hrs. but she was so enthu and never cried(except when she is hungry) . she made us laugh, she did everything to make me change my clothes three times in 5hrs. ( shu-shu keli na! :-) ) but now i am a a proud and happy Kaka....
life was so simple in this part of world. no local ka tension, no bus ki jig jig. people are living simple life. i meet with one of friend's uncle. he was a primary school teacher. he has a 1 acre "bag" behind his house. he grows everything from mango to papaya. he was very happy and satisfied guy. life is good .. in these parts of world.
after three weeks of this romantic life, i am back to the so called "fast paced" mumbai. i have missed few tests and presentations and i am thinking about what to tell professors.... u all can post few good reasons and help me out.

In between two sessions...
hi all,
so how was my summers? well it was damn good exp.
but what exp..?
ya exp to sit on a chair for whole day without doing anything...
and next day to go out in rain to meet ppl...
to enjoy cozy couches in company...
to stand on one and half leg in local train with heavy laptop for 1.5 hrs...
it was fun,
it was frustration...
really when u go as an outsider , u learn much more about that organisation...
and ppl..they were great...
no tension... and good work..
i still wonder how they achieve their targets...
and insurance is all about marketing right products to right guy...
so ... i like it very much.. and i am sure i m not joining this industry :-)
bcoz i not a marketing guy.. ( marketing guys can feel offended)
and in between work their was many things there were very important events... GOA TOUR and Paras' bday...
lets talk about them next time...
bye,
countrypande
